This unique Nepalese thali is a combination of dal, bhaat, tarkari, any meat and buckwheat finger chips and a generous dollop of ghee. Usually, this set is served in a bronze plate typically used by Thakali people and similar bronze bowls to serve curry dishes to complete the full-fledged meal.

  • Preparation Of Thakali Khana Set:The style of preparation of thakali platter is unique due to the use of ingredients like dried goat and yak meat, fermented green leafy vegetables also known as gundruk with soybean along with buckwheat, barley flour, golbjeda ki chutney (spiced tomato pickle) and timbur, a spicy Himalayan spice. As a dessert, sweet curd and fermented rice combo completes the meal. All these ingredients give a whole new taste, texture and flavour to the cuisine. This thali as a whole is not only appealing in taste but also very visually attractive with a variety of colours from dal, leafy vegetables, meat dipped in red curry along with chutneys and achars. Although, when it's about dining, Thakali people prefer eating their dishes on the carpet instead of a table. Furthermore, in Nepali culture, people like using their hands to eat the food.
